Kairos furniture is developed from the ground up with sustainability in mind. Covers are washable, cushions are refillable, and every component can be maintained and repaired. We use only the highest-quality materials and produce entirely in the Netherlands. Want a different layout after a move or redecoration? That works too.
1. Washable sofaWe don't use glue or staples to attach the upholstery — just zippers and velcro. Every cover is removable and machine-washable. Beyond saving? Order a new set of covers — no reason to throw out the whole sofa.Read more
2. Refillable cushionsBack cushions losing their bounce? Open the cover and refill with Dutch sheep wool. The seat cushion is just as easy to swap: unzip, replace, done. No upholsterer needed.Read more
3. Modular systemA Kairos isn't for a few years. Moving or redecorating? Disconnect and reconnect modules. Turn two chaise longues into a four-seater, or flip a right corner sofa to a left — your sofa adapts, you don't.Read more

We chose steel for the frame for affordability and modularity, and fill back cushions with 100% Dutch sheep wool — more sustainable, recyclable, fully natural. More than half of the second-hand sofas offered are “as good as new”. These sofas are therefore not worn out, yet are being discarded anyway. Often because the color of the upholstery no longer matches the rest of the decor, or because that left corner sofa should be a right one after a redecoration or move. A modular sofa offers a simple answer to this.

Imagine this: your bike has a flat tire and you can't patch or replace it. Pretty strange. Isn't it just as strange that a sofa with a stain or tear in the upholstery cannot be repaired? That is why we developed a sofa that simply can.
Furniture has a massive environmental impact. Traditionally, materials are sourced and produced in the Far East. Furniture made to stock eventually reaches the user's home via distribution centers and showrooms. At the end of its lifespan most of that material is burned: of a discarded sofa essentially only the metal is recovered, around a tenth of the wood is recycled, and the rest goes into the furnace.
